There are 3 major reasons why your getting disconnected.
1. Call waiting will immediately cancel the connection upon an incoming call. To disable call waiting, insert a "*70,," immediately before the phone number in dial-up networking.
2. Line noise - line noise will cause a modem to disconnect. Line noise varies depending on the quality of your phone line, but that is not the only factor. It can also be caused by call waiting, thunder, static, and cross-talk. If you feel this may be a problem, you should contact your local phone company to schedule line tests.
3. If you have been inactive for more than 20 minutes, our system will disconnect you. This is a safty catch. If you are called away from your computer a forget to log-off, your connection will terminate freeing your phone line. If you are doing an activity that does not transfer data (such as reading or writing e-mail), your connection will be disconnected. You will NOT be disconnected if any data transfer activity, browsing, file transfers etc, is taking place.
